Jim’s appreciation for bourbon began the way many parents discover it – during the occasional quiet moment after a long day of raising teenagers. What started as a small ritual between him and his wife Jeannie became a passion, leading to the creation of Fathertime Bourbon, and after the enthusiastic response of his first two releases, Jim wanted to craft something else deeply personal: a bottle dedicated to Jeannie for Mother’s Day in 2025.
The result was Mother of the Century.
One year later, the Gaffigans are sharing that bottle – and its story – as a special limited release. The bottle design echoes the look of Fathertime, but with a custom topper that bears the names of their five children alongside a pear – an homage to Jeannie’s memoir and her remarkable story of resilience after discovering a pear-sized brain tumor.
This batch is intentionally small, emphasizing quality and character. It is a tribute to motherhood, partnership, and the family that inspired it all.

All women are amazing. A woman can grow a baby inside their body! Then somehow a woman can deliver that baby though their body. And then by some miracle a woman can feed that baby with their body. When you think of the male contribution to life, it’s kind of embarrassing really. The guy is always like, “Well, I helped too! For like 5 seconds! Doing the one thing I think about 24 hours a day.”
Jeannie Louise Noth Gaffigan is the mother of five children, a dog she didn’t want and a cat she is deathly allergic to. She gave birth to each of her children at home with no drugs while her husband nervously watched. She survived a brain tumor, home schooling during a pandemic and over twenty years of marriage to a constantly traveling comedian who sometimes impulsively buys homes his wife may not want. Jeannie always puts her children and family first.
Because of this selfless generosity Jeannie has been proclaimed Mother of the Century. This very precious batch bourbon is a small gesture to express my gratitude.

Who is behind Mother of the Century?
It’s just me, Jim Gaffigan, and my college buddy, filmmaker Stu Pollard. We’ve had tons of help bringing it to life, but the investment and all decisions were made by us.
What does "precious batch" even mean? The price is making Dad angry?
Mother of the Century is a “precious batch” bourbon meaning a very limited number of bottles are created. Our bourbon was sourced with the help of several highly regarded master distillers, but I taste and hand-select each barrel that goes into it. Our label and closure were meticulously designed to make this a bottle you’ll be proud to display on your bar or give as a gift to a loved one. There is no big corporation behind us. Every detail has been curated by me and Stu.
